Recent Barn Discovery:

a very rare 1929 Dunphy 21' inboard runabout!

This prewar beauty was remarkably well preserved by long time owner Ron Cook.  He purchased the boat in 1967 from Easter Marine in Holland Michigan for the amount of $85.00 plus tax.  It was equipped with a 1932 Ford flat head V-8.  Ron Cook ran it for a few years until the engine failed.  He intended to replace the engine and refinished the boat, but it remained idle in his barn since 1971.

After 34 years of dry storage, Macatawa Bay Boat Works acquired the boat from Ron (pictured left) in February of 2005 and thanks to his foresight and preservation, we have a great opportunity to restore this solid and very original pre-war Dunphy.

This boat is very rare and we are not aware of the existence of any others like it.

The above is a reprint of a 1926 Dunphy advertisement.  Looks like a John Hacker hull design...

Original wood steering wheel and dash.

The center instrument cluster is original with a rotating horizontal band style tachometer made by Stewart before they became Stewart-Warner

The deck ventilators and bow light are believed to be original to the boat.

Macatawa Bay Boat Works intends to restore the boat to show condition and its original configuration.  The start of the restoration has not been scheduled at this time, but we will have photographs of the project once work begins.  Please check back for updates.
