1965 Century Sabre 18'  ***SOLD***

Here is what is certainly one of the nicest and most extensively restored 1965 Century Sabre on the market today.  This boat came to us and is a one family owned boat since new.  It is the first Century Sabre built in 1965 and was used in the 1965 Century Sales brochure and boat shows by Century (see photo below). 

It was restored by Macatawa Bay Boat Works over a period of approximately 18 months.  Every square inch of this boat was restored to show condition including: New MBBW "no soak / no leak bottom", all structural components made to better than new, double bottom install consisting of a first layer of 1/4" Okoume marine plywood Lloyd's Registered and built to British Standard #1088, a second layer of 1/2" thick African Mahogany.  The new bottom was installed with 3M-5200 marine adhesive and all stainless steel fasteners.  The original hullside and transom planking were removed, cleaned up, reinstalled with 3M-5200 adhesive and were stripped to the bare wood, re-stained and varnished with 14 coats of varnish to show quality.  All chrome was removed and sent for show quality chrome plating.  The interior upholstery is new and is from A&A Marine and was made from the original patterns and in the factory correct colors.  The entire "T Top" assembly was also restored using correct materials and chrome re-plated.  The dashboard gauges were removed and cleaned and repaired as needed.  The dashboard itself was also removed and stripped and refinished.  Only original gauges and switches were reinstalled so the boat is as it left the factory.  The entire boat was rewired and fused for safety.  The fuel tank is custom made new in aluminum for longevity and performance.  The fuel lines and fittings were brought up to current US Coast Guard standards.  The well preserved original flooring was cleaned and reinstalled.  The upper portion of the hullsides, deck and "Gull Wing 'T' Tops" of this boat are constructed of fiberglass and all were professionally restored.  The deck inner deck is upholstered in new marine vinyl in the style and color as factory original.   The Plexiglas windshield was polished and buffed for clarity by a plastic specialist.  At the owner's request, a brand new modern Pleasure Craft Marine V-8 engine was installed, 350 cubic inch displacement, with a Velvet Drive 1:1 transmission.  This is truly a fast boat! GPS confirmed speeds to a 50 MPH with great handling and hole shot. New underwater running gear including new stainless steel propeller shaft, coupler, cutlass bearing in the strut, new rudder stuffing box and shaft log seals along with a new high performance Acme propeller were paired to the increased horse power of the PCM V-8 for optimum performance.

It comes complete with a MBBW Classic Trail Custom inboard tandem axle trailer and custom full mooring cover in tan Sunbrella and fleece-lined storage bags for the Gull Wing/'T' Tops
